After 5+ years of studying the Myers-Briggs personality type indicator and 2+ years with the Objective Personality type system (which is much more advanced than the MBTI) I’m starting a series of “thoughts” where I can dump my seemingly endless insights about the subject… hopefully helping you to gain more understanding of how human minds work!
I will create more in-depth content helping you understand the building-blocks of this info so that you can have these kinds of insights for yourself! For now, the best place to learn is from the “Objective Personality” YouTube channel!
Here’s a good intro to their info.
Alright, today’s insight:
INxJ’s and ENxP’s don’t really care about the “facts.”
Like all insights I’ll be sharing about this model, these are broad, sweeping patterns that are “generally true” and may differ on a case-to-case basis.
(notice, what I just said, “generally true” is exactly what I’m talking about. As an ENTP my dominant function is Ne (extroverted intuition) and my secondary function is Ti (introverted thinking) which means that I’m basically surveying the idea-space (Ne is about gathering ideas/possibilities… generalizing) and making generalizations based on which ideas I think are most objectively accurate/useful (Ti) based on my model of reality.
So, if you want to understand my mind and everything an ENTP is doing all day, then read the above sentence.
Another thing that I’m doing as an ENxP is ACTIVELY DISRESPECTING THE FACTS.

See that little green “Si.”
That’s the cognitive function for introverted sensing which is all about observing the specifics, the facts, and the details.
As an ENTP, one of my strengths (as well as one of my weaknesses) is the ability to completely disregard the “physical facts” and just lean heavily on my mental model.
This allows me to “skip over” a lot of scientific data and studies, and allows me to know if something is true through this process of guessing intuitively.
For example, the Medical Medium information.
Many people won’t be willing to accept the Medical Medium information as a valid source of health info because there isn’t enough “science studies” to back up what he’s saying (even though there’s tens of thousands of case-studies proving his protocols are effective at reversing chronic illness).
As an ENTP, I can find cutting-edge information that is a bit “esoteric” or “woo-woo” and actually make sense of it (whereas most people would deny it and throw it out).
This allows me to be ahead of the curve and find cutting-edge information without having to wait 100 years for science to “catch up” with all of the Si details.
Watch the below video “Intuition: Jumping To Conclusions” to learn more about how this works.
The downside of ignoring the sensory is that MANY INxJ’s and ENxP’s will end up with some crackpot conspiracy worldview that is so disconnected from actual reality… because they are so disrespectful of “real world facts.”
The reason why INxJ’s and ENxP’s are doing this is specifically is because they have their “N” function as their 1st function and their “S” function as their 4th function.
Here’s another example:
My meditation teacher (an INxP, of some kind, could be INFP or INTP) sent us an article to read about “the self.”
Here it is.
I haven’t read it yet (but I skimmed it 😜) and the first thing I noticed is how many citations are required to say things that I already knew intuitively.
This is an excellent article, by the way, and I’m excited to read it in full, but right now I’m noticing that most intelligent INxP’s and ENxJ’s are engrossing themselves in articles / books that are grounded in science in some way, shape, or form.
Very rarely will you find them flying off into the hoop-lah dimensions (like an INxJ or ENxP would do) because they have a good balance of “N” and “S” since their observer functions (the name for “S” and “N” functions are “observer functions” because they’re about gathering / organizing data) are in the middle.
Whereas for me, you’ll rarely find me reading books that are “grounded in science” because I feel like science is “too slow” to catch up to the cutting-edge land of ideas. That’s why I like reading esoteric and channeled material about other dimensions, realms, aliens, etc.
It’s like a playground for my Ne function where I can guess away all day and don’t have to be “slowed down” by the “facts.”
INxJ’s (like my girlfriend) are doing something similar but their process is a bit more hyper-focused on one particular set of ideas (organizing known information, Ni) rather than gathering new ideas (Ne).
She often “knows things” about the real world before they actually happen. Most legitimate psychics are usually INxJ’s of some kind.
That being said, since her Se is last, she’ll often trip over objects that are right in front of her face because she’s so occupied with her Ni that she doesn’t have time to check the Se (gathering facts from the external world).
In my case, I’ll often lose my belongings, not knowing where I put my keys, phone, wallet, etc. Because I was too busy gathering ideas that I didn’t have time to pay attention to where I put my things (Si is about organizing known facts/things).
So, to conclude, all personality types have these extreme “trade-offs”, where their biggest weakness is also their biggest strength. We will talk about IxxP’s and ExxJ’s another time. Stay tuned!
