Why Spirituality Flips Life On Its Head

"True words seem paradoxical."

Hey my friend 🙂

Today I’d like to explore the paradoxical and counter-intuitive aspects of life and reality.

This is one of my favourite subjects because it gives you a much deeper appreciation of the twisted and contorted aspects of life that often confuse and overwhelm people.

Subjects such as:

  • dating
  • money
  • life purpose
  • status
  • confidence
  • health
  • creating art
  • being authentic

are all things that cause us much trouble and confusion.

One of the main reasons for this is that:

Since these areas are so close to our survival (as physical, social, and mental beings), we often can’t see them clearly because of ego-attachment.

So, today we’re going to explore deeper what exactly that ego-attachment is
and hopefully loosen it up a little bit (by digging deeper and investigating the absurdity of “making life too important.”)

Let’s begin:

Why Things Are Not What They Seem

When I first began my personal development / spiritual awakening process at 16 years old

I thought that I had life figured out.

Yet
 my results spoke otherwise.

I had horrible dating / social skills, poor money habits, terrible health habits, no life purpose, and and an addiction to weed and video games.

So, it wasn’t until life smashed me in the face a few times (by having a beautiful girl break my heart) did I finally get humbled enough to be open to new perspectives.

I began looking online for solutions to “how to be attractive”

when I stumbled upon this weird bald-dude who gave super high-quality personal development advice about this brand new concept (or, at least new to me) called self-actualization.

For the first time in my life, I realized that I could actually work on myself and level up my life-skills (almost like a video game character) by:

  1. reading books, listening to teachers, going to seminars/retreats
  2. implementing what I learned
  3. testing to see what works for me

This made me SO EXCITED!

I ran to the fkn bookstore and started buying top-quality books about relationships, dating, health, confidence, philosophy, spirituality, meditation, success, business, law of attraction, science, and more

I wanted to become the best version of myself.

And for the first time in my life, I realized that I needed a guide.

Opposite Day

One of the first things that I realized after reading these amazing, mind-bending books

(get my top recommendations on my booklist)

Is that:

A lot of the stuff that I’m learning from these top-tier leaders, experts, and sages is literally THE EXACT OPPOSITE of what I was taught!

Examples:

Dating (my assumptions):

I thought that in order to be attractive you had to “pretend to be cool.” I thought that if I acted in a “cool” way, then I would display the correct traits that I would need to make the cute girl attracted to me.

Dating (the reality):

Actually, being attractive is about being fully and completely yourself despite potential risks of “not looking cool.”

So literally, the more that you’re able to just be yourself (even though yourself may not be that “socially cool”) that signals to the correct person that you don’t need another person’s approval to be satisfied with yourself.

That’s attractive.

……………………………………………………..

Productivity / Success (my assumptions):

I thought that in order to “be productive” and “achieve your dreams” that means that you have to force yourself to do a bunch of sh*t that you don’t want to do

and then, after you “work hard enough”

THEN you finally earn the right to be successful.

Productivity / Success (the reality):

Again, the reality about “being productive” is actually about being authentically yourself and allowing your natural being to strive towards goals / pursuits that you are genuinely interested in.

Your work shouldn’t feel like you have to “pull your own leg” in order to get it done

it should pour out of you naturally

almost without effort.

Also, I found that the more that I rest and let go of attachment to results

the more “full” I feel inside myself
and the better I’m able to perform in my creative/entrepreneurial endeavours!

……………………………………………………..

Happiness / Fulfillment (my assumptions):

I assumed that in order to “be happy,” I had to organize my external reality to be as comfortable and cushy as possible.

I thought happiness meant gaining as much pleasure + stimulation as possible (the best video games, the tastiest food, the nicest house, etc.). While getting rid of all the uncomfortable things I didn’t like (mainly boredom).

Happiness / Fulfillment (the reality):

After lots of experience with meditation, I realized that my external circumstances do not have to be “perfect” in order for me to feel blissful, tranquil, and abundant.

What is required is for my mind to be grounded and tamed in the present moment.

To be fully here, in an attitude of non-resistance, and not dwelling on what was or what could be.

Then, with a balanced mind, my actions naturally flow to create a more enjoyable external circumstance
 without falling into excess.

Why The Truth Is Often The Opposite Of What We Think

You may have noticed that many of these insights are the exact opposite of what we were taught by culture!

I got so excited about this idea while I was writing this article that I had to jump up from my laptop and start recording a video !

In that video, I go even deeper into this idea where we explore:

  • what causes the ego to cling to external results
  • why letting go and surrendering are key to getting what you want in life
  • how to connect more deeply to your Higher Power so that you can expand and grow towards your fullest creative and spiritual potential!

So, if you’re interested…

I think you’ll LOVE IT 😀

Sincerely,
Adam

P.S. Very soon (in mid September) I’m going to be launching a powerful guided experience where you can dive deeper into meditation, spirituality, and becoming the best version of yourself! If this interests you, then STAY TUNED as I’ll be releasing more updates about the dates and how you can be a part of it as we get closer 🙂
