Hey my friend 🙂
The song lyric that’s stuck in my head this morning is:
🎵 “‘THANK YOU LORD, FOR THINKING ‘BOUT ME! I’M ALIVE AND DOING FINE!!!’ “🎵
It’s from this old 70s song called Signs by The Five Man Electrical Band.
The song is about this man going around his town getting frustrated with all of the negative signs that are around him:
- you can’t enter here!
- NO TRESPASSING!
- members only!
Eventually, he gets fed up with all of the negativity… and he decides to write his own sign: “THANK YOU LORD, FOR THINKING ‘BOUT ME…”
Why am I sharing this with you today?
Because your success (or lack of success) in your life is completely dependent on what kind of “signs” you’re feeding into your subconscious mind.
Learning how to work with your subconscious mind is the NUMBER 1 ingredient for creating a self-actualized life.
Instead of fighting against your old habits…
and being confused why you can’t make changes stick.
By working with your subconscious mind, you’ll be able to effortlessly create amazing results… because your mind will pull you forward … (instead of holding you back).
Let’s begin:
The 3 Selves
In the Hawaiian “Huna” religion, there’s this concept of the 3 selves:
Father Mind
Mother Mind
Child Mind
The idea is that we each have these 3 minds within us…
The Father Mind represents that “superconscious” mind which is responsible for connection to the divine, and receiving inspiration…
The Mother Mind represents the “conscious” mind which is our everyday selves, who is making day-to-day decisions and is in charge of taking care of…
The Child Mind represents the “subconscious” mind which is very fragile and impressionable… but is responsible for creating our physical reality.
This concept of “the conscious” and the “subconscious” minds is EVERYWHERE throughout world-traditions!!!
- yin / yang
- observer / observed
- unmanifest / manifest
- father / son
- heaven / earth
- shiva / shakti
- osiris / isis
etc.
Put simply, your reality is created by the “seeds” that you plant into your subconscious mind.
The “seeds” are your habitual thoughts + emotions.
Taking Control Of Your Thoughts
Once you realize that the thoughts and emotions that you’re feeding your subconscious mind are responsible for creating your reality…
it’s wise to become a lot more selective about what kinds of energies you’re feeding into your mind
For example:
the kinds of people that you hang out with (virtually online or in real life) condition your subconscious mind with their “energy” which is made up of their:
- tone of voice
- body language
- word choice / slang
- breathing patterns
- conversation topics
etc.
That’s why:
You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.
- Jim Rohn
All information that you absorb from:
- books
- movies
- TV
- YouTube, Instagram, TikTok
- music
- video games
- friends
Subtly conditions your subconscious mind and affects the kind of person that you are becoming.
So, that’s why the Buddha said to “guard your sense-doors,” because it’s very easy to accidentally let in some unwelcome guests that eventually dictate how your life unfolds.
Is Media Harmless?
Recently I was watching a bit too much YouTube…
(I was looking for entertainment instead of consciously choosing where to invest my focus)
eventually, this lead to a slippery slope where I was watching all sorts of random videos about video game reviews..
eventually, I ended up playing this very famous game called Bioshock which is about being trapped in an abandoned underwater city that is full of supernatural killers that want to murder you.
… heh heh …
Do you think it’s harmless to play such a game?
Within about 2 minutes of playing… I already felt my nervous system move into a “fight or flight” mode and since it was late at night… I went to sleep in this energy and let’s just say I had a horrible day for the next few days…
I woke up feeling exhausted and my creativity took a hit…
The point is that: I attracted this experience of being trapped in an underwater city with murderous demons who want to kill me because I wasn’t paying attention to where I was investing my focus.
Planting Positive Seeds
Just like that song lyric from the beginning…
it’s important to consciously craft your own “signs” that you feed into your subconscious mind.
What does that mean?
It’s the Mother-mind‘s job to feed the Child-mind.
Often, the Mother-mind will get inspiration from the Father-mind such as a song lyric like: “THANK YOU LORD, FOR THINKING ‘BOUT ME! I’M ALIVE AND DOING FINE!”
Then, it’s the Mother-mind’s job (the conscious mind) to feed that information to the Child-mind (the subconscious mind) through habitual focus + emotion.
Then, the Child-mind gets imprinted with this new positive energy and that becomes a part of who you are …
then, the observer becomes the observed... meaning that your external reality is literally just a crystallized (physicalized) picture of what you’ve been planting in your subconscious.
So, here’s some tips for planting positive seeds into your subconscious mind:
- Prayer / Meditation: Please do not underestimate the power of setting the intention to cleanse your energy… to clear yourself of negative thoughts/emotions… ask God/Universe/Father to help you cleanse yourself… and then follow the flow of your intuition. You might find a YouTube video, email, or an intuitive calling to “go outside” or “hug a tree” that can help you cleanse your energy and plant positive seeds into your subconscious mind.
Prayer / Meditation is by far one of the most powerful ways to plant positive seeds into your subconscious mind and there are many practices from all over the world that are designed to help you cultivate positive thoughts + emotions by helping you place your focus on these things intentionally.
- Remove The Fluff: Instead of “adding more thoughts” to our busy, cluttered minds… it’s often enough to “pull the weeds.”
Spend less time absorbing garbage content on TV and social media… use that time to “be bored.” When you have nothing distracting you, it is a lot easier to:
- Focus On Your Vision: Instead of checking your phone or scrolling endlessly, looking for distraction and entertainment… fully feel that “bored” feeling… let it sting you a bit. Now that you have nothing else to do… what a great time to start pointing your mind towards what you want!
- Consciously “Plant Seeds”: Repeating thoughts such as: “I love myself!” , “My reality takes care of me!” , “I’m so grateful for what I have!” , “I love being alive!” , “I love my work!” , “I’m so thankful for everything that comes to me!” etc. will help you to plant these positive thought-habits into your mind.
IMPORTANT: Don’t repeat thoughts mindlessly like a robot. Only plant seeds that ‘feel good’ in your body. If the affirmation doesn’t resonate in your heart and in your being… then that means it didn’t “land.” … You should only be repeating thoughts and affirmations that genuinely feel good in the moment! Create your own! See what resonates!
Alright, my friend!
I hope this was helpful / inspiring for you!
Thank you so much for reading this email 🙂
If you’d like some more clarity on specifically what you should be focusing your mind on in order to gain amazing results in your self-actualization… to create a life that feels authentic, joyous, fun, and free:
It’s a great one!!
Peace ✌🏻

"Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think. Suffering follows an evil thought as the wheels of a cart follow the oxen that draw it. Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think. Joy follows a pure thought like a shadow that never leaves.
